March Flowers Tell Tales

2016-03-01 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Joyce M. Coomer.
This little group of March flowers has been in bloom since the first week of February, something very unusual for my March flowers as they usually bloom two weeks later than everyone else's. The accompanying poem was inspired by March flowers I noticed in the yard of a good, livable house that was torn down for no good reason that I could see . . . -Joyce M. Coomer

Our cat Smokey Blue on patrol

2016-03-01 - Fortune Street, Columbia, KY - Photo By Linda Waggener.
No challenge is too great for the mighty guard cat Smokey Blue Waggener. Mom named him when he was just a kitten, short, round and furry. When he first climbed onto the roof at that stage it was noise free and cute. Now, when this big boy hits the roof, especially the metal porch area, it sounds like the troopers have landed. After the shock, it's cute again. Paired photo. See - Our cat Smokey Blue guarding the house

Dawn on Main Street, a year before the 2017 Bicentennial

2016-03-01 - Main Street, looking East, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Larry Smith, FM 92.7 the WAVE & FM 99.9 the Big Dawg.
Our downtown is more inviting than ever and when we celebrate our 200th anniversary next year this downtown will be full of people celebrating 200 years of growth and excitement. As a member on the Campbellsville Bicentennial Committee I'll be keeping you updated here on Columbia Magazine and 99.9 The Big Dawg. Campbellsville was created in Green County in 1817, Taylor County was created in 1848 by the Kentucky Legislature and the rest is just a celebration to be had. - Larry Smith
