Do you have more answers: Jesus in a doorway
2015-09-26 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Early builders in America put subtle and not-so-subtle Christian imagery in doorways. The cross of Jesus is evident. There is more. This doorway is in a residence in Columbia, KY built over 200 years ago. It was built for Columbia's first jailer, first postmaster. If you see other religious imagery in the doorway, let us know.

Myanmar: from the global travels of Kaye and Dawson
2015-09-26 - between China and India - Photo by Kaye Bowman. This journey stop is shared by global travelers "Kaye and Dawson" from their visit to Myanmar, formerly Burma, earlier this year. Kaye writes, Myanmar is a country slowly but surely emerging from decades of isolation and authoritarian rule. Considered the fourth most isolated country in the world, behind Iran, South Korea and Cuba, Myanmar is poised to explode onto the modern world. Myanmar - still often called by its former official English name Burma - is nestled between its gigantic neighbors, India and China, and is almost twice the size of Germany. With high mountain peaks, vast plateaus and thickly forested ranges, the bulk of the populations lives in the more accessible central lowlands. Dissecting the entire length of this enchanting land is the "Father River", the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River. In this photo Over Lake Taungthaman is a bridge made from teak wood salvaged from the Ava Palace around 1850 and is the oldest and longest teak wood bridge in the world. We walked out onto this ancient bridge and wondered of its age and strength. A sunset boat ride on the lake gave us some of the most beautiful photos of our trip.

Mr. Reed's leadership affirmed, by board, community, daughter
2015-09-26 - 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. The continued success of Superintendent Alan W. Reed's leadership was in doubt a few minutes after this photo was taken September 17, 2015, when the vote on his contract left the future of the schools surge to the top in doubt. Thanks to Division 2's Quinn Lasley, who initiated a new Special Called Board meeting after consulting with her constitutions, the vote was reversed to 3-2 to give the Superintendent a new four year contract. The action took place Thursday, September 24, 2015. Community outpouring was overwhelming in support of the superintendent. His daughter, Aimee Reed Kidd, relieved after the second vote, was not surprised. He's always been a leader, she wrote, coming through for the family again - and again. - EW. (The stories about the crisis may be the biggest news event of the 21st century in Adair County. The story drew broad interest far beyond the seven county area. To read the story which sent a collective sigh of relief throughout Kentucky educational leaders, see Crowd erupts in standing ovation after Mr. Reed voted in, 3-2 by Larry Smith.
