On CM going viral, at least as far as Louisville

2016-03-13 - Bull Run Creek - Photo by Linda Waggener.
Ed Waggener, at right, and I knew our children would make major contributions in life. Grandchildren have validated that. We didn't know specifically in 1972 at this Wild Sweet William flower picking time with first child Pen that computers would come along, that he would master Pac-Man, bond with Mac computers and software, and with his Dad and the new digital camera, create photo art that would someday make the family website columbiamagazine.com go viral -- at least as far as Louisville. We've had fun this week after Doyle Lloyd shared news of that photo art in a feature on WDRB 41 in which Dalton Main's feature, "No, google, giant cats aren't attacking Columbia" showcased a random google map documentation photo that used the very art the guys created and posted over a decade ago. Click here to see the photo art google used. -- Linda Waggener

Friends and family greet each other in Edmonton

2016-03-13 - Metcalfe County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
Louise Firkins, second from left, and Geniece Marcum, left, enjoyed running into each other at lunch Saturday in Edmonton and sharing fun memories of their work years as toll collectors on the LBN/Cumberland Parkway before tolls were taken off. There are so many stories from that experience. With them are Louise's son Sammy in the red shirt with his two boys, Landon, the seven-year-old playing his game, and Dakota, the two-year-old in his dad's arms, and friend Brian Pack at right. Louise is now events coordinator at Bowling Park in Edmonton. She shared a very special event coming up at there in May with the arrival of the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Dates and times are available in the accompanying article. Click Read More below for details.
