GM Lenny Stone describes possible problem at water plant

2016-03-16 - Columbia/Adair Utilities District (CAUD), 109 Grant Lane, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Columbia-Adair Utilities District General Manager Lenny Stone described a bearing as bigger than a golf ball, smaller than a softball, to describe a possible diagnosis on the settling basin problem at the utilities water plant. Commissioners present, Mike Newton, Barry Stotts, David Jones, and Wid Harris voted unanimously, 4-0, to hire local company Fabco, to go into the huge machine, check the bearings and analyze the problem. Fabco has agreed to do the diagnosis for a maximum of $5,000, and if it the repair is within their capability to complete the work with only the cost of materials added. GM Stone and the commissioners agreed that this should be a first step, rather than call in outside experts whose initial costs might be a minimum of $20-30,000. The photo was taken at the Special Regular Meeting of the CAUD board, Tuesday, March 15, 2016. - Ed Waggener
