Young food grower Justin Walker at work in raised bed garden
2016-06-06 - Adair County, KY - Photo Tammy Stotts. Justin Walker, 11, shared science and food preparation tips with me recently when we were talking about things we really like. For instance he knows how to make no-drip Popsicles and has proven it in his mother Tammy Stotts' kitchen. His favorite drink is Mtn. Dew and he makes Popsicles out of it that won't drip -- he says all you do is boil the soda pop to rolling bubbles, turn off the heat and pour it into a bowl to cool. Then you mix in non flavored gelatin, pour into Popsicle freezer forms and put it in the freezer overnight. Justin is a master gardener already at his young age and is shown here working in the raised beds in his yard. He says he learns a lot from the science programs available on Youtube. "Just go there," Justin says, "and you can learn too!" I believe him and I'm headed there now! - LW
