Accommodating people downtown: At Printing Creations 2016-06-13 - Printing Creations, 110 N Monroe, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. One of so many great things about local business people is how accommodating they are. The trunk above is filled with useful notepads, free for the asking. Greg & Joyce Coomer, the owners of Printing Creations, give away scratchpads in a number convenient sizes to those in need. The display begs provenance, and Joyce Coomer explains, "The trunk was my great aunt's -- Lillian Leaner Taylor. She had scarlet fever when she was a child. I have one or two photos of her; she didn't look much older than twelve in a photo taken maybe two years before she died." That's important to know. The notepad I got Saturday before the memorial bridge and highway dedication at the fire department came in very handy, by the way. Camper engulfed in flames on Columbia Bypass 2016-06-12 - Adair County Veterans Memorial Parkway - Photo by Adair County Constable Joe Collins. This burned out hulk of a camper was all that remained after a fire broke out in the camper as it was traveling along the Columbia Bypass. A man and woman from Taylorsville, KY, were traveling along the bypass in a convoy, when the man, in the trailing vehicle noticed sparks coming from the bus. He flashed his lights to get the driver of the vehicle to stop. She abandoned the vehicle in time to avoid injury, but the camper is completely destroyed. The event occurred around 4pmCT, Sunday, June 21, 2016. Several first responders have been on the scene for around 2 hours. Including Adair County Fire Department, Adair County SAR, Columbia CPD Ofc. Josh Brockman and Ofc. Tracy McCarol, , ACSO Deputy Brandon Hitch, Chester Taylor, and Dale Flatt, with his wrecker service, and AC Constable Joe Collins.
