A cool, shady place for the Farmers Market 2016-06-17 - 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. The Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, is providing a cool, shady place local growers to sell this summer, and now there's comfortable, drive-up parking for customers. This morning, early on, there were two vendors: Margie Rooks, Sano, KY, on the left, and Terry Partin, Bliss, KY, on the right. The Partins had new potatoes this morning, and are almost promising sweet corn by around July 9, 2016. Margie Rooks also has potatoes, as well as yellow squash, zucchini, broccoli, green onions, and lots and lots of cucumbers. Adair Garden Club gets praise for their contribution 2016-06-17 - Adair County Public Library, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com. A certificate of appreciation was presented to the Adair County Garden Club for "the creation and maintenance of Monarch Waystation number 12026." And it includes these words, "Monarch Waystations provide milkweeds, nectar plants and shelter for Monarchs throughout their annual cycle of reproduction and migration. Creating and maintaining a Monarch Waystation contributes to Monarch conservation and helps to assure the continuation of the Monarch migration in North America." The certificate was signed by Chip Taylor, director of Monarch Watch and it will hang in the library with other honors given to the Garden Club.
