Reward: help find the shooter of Jeff Scott's dog Layla

2016-07-10 - Sparksville KY - Photo Scott family photo.
Sara Scott Browning posted this stunning photo with these words: “$150 REWARD for information on the person that shot my parent's sweet dog, Layla. She wasn't just a dog, but their sweet companion through my dad's cancer journey - she walked every step with my dad as he went up and down the hill in front of his house to gain strength and stamina. She was there to love them as well as all of the children at the nearby church." Sara is the daughter of Jeff Scott and she asks for prayers for his complete healing from cancer as he goes to Vanderbilt for continuing treatment today. Jeff and his wife Henrietta have hundreds of "family members" from all the students they’ve taught in the Adair County Schools over their years before retirement. Search Facebook for Sara Scott Browning to make contact about the reward.

Lois, Jeanette, Jessie and Laveta enjoy getting together

2016-07-10 - Columbia KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com.
Family members, from left - Lois Banks, Jeanette Page, Jessie Jones and Laveta Taylor -- all from the Cane Valley to Columbia area of Adair County, shared a moment for this picture as they enjoyed brunch at the Circle R recently. They say they like to get together regularly and celebrate the fact that they are still able to get out and go. Their discussions include news of family, friends, current events and their pets – Lois has “a plain dog”, Jeanette says she’s “the only one without a dog,” but she has a Goldfish, Jessie has a yellow Lab, and Laveta has a little Bichon Frise.

C/AC Airport now a campus; needs more parking, bus turn around - XIX

2016-07-10 - Columbia/Adair County Airport, 735 Country Club Road, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
The Columbia City Council has voted to pay half the cost for a culvert and in-kind work to fill in the drainage ditch to make approximately nine more parking spaces at the Columbia/Adair County Airport, pending like approval by fiscal court. The airport will provide classroom space for the new Aviation/Aerospace Academy at Adair County High School as well as for Metcalfe County's Aviation/Aerospace program. Columbia/Adair County Airport Board Chairman Chris Janes said that at the time of the improvements, a new bus turnaround can be provided. The C/AC Airport also has a gift of a free courtesy car, if insurance is provided. The City of Columbia has agreed to do so; Fiscal Court has not yet. The airport is a a key element in Economic Development, and the air board is hoping that enough magistrates will come through that both the additional parking and the courtesy car can become a reality. One person, not an air board member, has written to CM on the subject, but would permit a statement only on condition of anonymity at this time, "The airport is not doing well, like a lot of our infrastructure, due to lack of love and care from its joint owners, city and county government. The fiscal court seems to have little interest in meeting its obligation, as half owner, to help it grow and prosper. This is, yet, another sad statement on the leadership from the majority of our magistrates. Eventually we will pay a big price for the lack of effort." - CM.
