On KWC football team: Luttrell, Burton, Claypool

2016-09-11 - Kentucky Wesleyan College, Owensboro, KY - Photo by Cathy Luttrell.
Adair County is well represented on the Kentucky Wesleyan College football team with alums from Adair County High School's fabulous football program. Jeremy Luttrell is an incoming freshman while Brandon Burton and Spencer are sophomores. Both Brandon Burton and Spencer Claypool were selected for the college's travel team which is quite an achievement since there are 108 players and only 52 are selected. Jeremy is the son of Jimmy & Cathy Luttrell. Brandon is the son of April Burton and Timmy Burton. Spencer is the son of Kelli Claypool and the late Julius (JC) Ray Claypool. - Cathy Luttrell

Lindsey Tower from high point a mile away

2016-09-11 - from Industrial Drive & Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c).
South Central Kentucky seems to have endless high points and limitless vistas in, for many of us, new and undiscovered places. This view of the original Raider Bob Tower tower, the one million gallon whopper at Holladay Place, is from what many old-timers remember as the Beulah Bennett place - now undergoing development. The water tower now has a rival for attention - the onion tank on the Lindsey Wilson campus itself. It also includes the college's famed and often imitated slogan, "Every Student Every Day," and appears to have had perfect alignment to be seen by westbound travelers on KY 206/Liberty Road and from Jamestown Street, by northbound travelers. - Ed Waggener

Epicurean Kentuckian: Festival food at Revisit Knifley 2016

2016-09-10 - Old Knifley Grade Center Campus - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c).
They simply cook good, in Knifley, KY. The food served in the Old Knifley Grade Center was a delight, today, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Revisit Knifley. Never heard of anyone getting a plate they didn't like at a Knifley community event, in fact. The price for this plate (above minus one or two pieces of fish, more fries) was $7.99. With the Pepsi cold drink, it was $9.00 even.
