My Great-great-great grandfather, William Carrol Demumbrunn, Lucy Clark's father was born March 18, 1821 in Edmonson County, KY. Of course, Edmonson County was not formed until 4 years later, in 1825. He married Lucy Gholes Wisdom and made his home in Metcalfe County which did not become a county until 1860. He had 11 children, including Lucy Clark, and died in 1886. He was a Preacher, most likely a Circuit Rider.Back in the day churches were small and could not afford a full time minister, so Preachers would pastor, so to speak, a number of churches preaching at a different one each Sunday of the month. Wings Express students make candy cane ornaments 2016-12-25 - Campbellsville Elementary School, 315 Roberts Road (campus), Campbellsville, KY . Campbellsville Elementary School first-grader Brendan Martin counts how many beads he used to make his ornament.Campbellsville Elementary School Wings Express students recently made candy cane ornaments. Students used pipe cleaners to form the shape of a candy cane, and then added red and white beads in a pattern. After their pipe cleaner was full of beads, students tied it so their ornament can be hung on a Christmas tree. The Wings Express program will begin again on Thursday, January 5. Wings Express is a program to help students with homework and other activities. Students receive help with reading, math, science, technology, social skills and more. They also participate in activities to learn about nutrition. Wings Express students stay at school from 3pm to 5pmET on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 1pm to 3pmET on Fridays for activities. Students are given a snack and then divided into groups to participate in programs that best fit their needs. About 90 students will participate in the Wings Express program. Junior Spires, 84 years young and an Adair County treasure, can often be seen at the Circle R Family restaurant, located just few yards away from his home on Glen Mary Street, Columbia, KY. He's doing great, and reminded us that his brother, Joe Spires, now 93, is, too. Joe Spires, he remembers, famed for "A little better than plumb," borrowed that phrase from Rev. Edgar Giles, who worked with Joe Spires in the construction of the Janice and Henry Giles log house at Spout Springs. He said his brother would ask Rev. Giles if a newly added construction item were plumb, and Rev. Giles would reply, "It's a little better than plumb." It became a saying on the construction site, Junior Spires says, and Mrs. Giles used it for the title of her book. He also re-acquainted Linda and me of the history of Knifley, recalling the many enterprises of my grandfather, Lee R.
