Sunday afternoon was a wonderful to be out in the sunshine!
2017-02-07 - Adair County, KY - Photo by MeMel - Melissa Stone. In the left panel is my son, Kris Knight, and his son, Zander Stone Knight, enjoying playing in the field. MeMel (that’s me!) was able to snap a picture before shrieking in fear for Zander’s safety. Both Zander and his dad were quite amused at that. Zander is part of a matching set. However, his twin, Zayne Tucker Knight, was a little more difficult to catch, as is evident in the picture on the right! It took Mom, Tera Knight, and both big brothers, Trent and Cam Upchurch to keep the Z’s within herding distance! - Melissa Stone (a.k.a. MeMel)

Scenic Casey Co., KY: Traffic in downtown Phil, KY
2017-02-07 - Approaching KY 501 from KY 910 - Photo by Ed Waggener, Columbiamagazine.com(c) . A horse drawn vehicle pulls from a full stop to smoothly enter KY 501 from KY 910 in downtown Phil, where the central commercial building is, at least according to the sign on the left, for sale. With the store closed, the biggest commercial days in Phil these days are during the U.S. 127 yard sale in the summertime. - EW

First Grader Amani Bridgewater with her armadillo art
2017-02-06 - Campbellsville Elementary School, 315 Roberts Road, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer, Campbellsville Independent Schools (CIS). Campbellsville Elementary School first-grader Amani Bridgewater holds her finished armadillo. CES Wings Express students recently made their own armadillos. CES second-grade teacher Tracey Rinehart read the book "Armadillo Tattletale" by Helen Ketteman to the first-grade students. The book is about the armadillo's habit of eavesdropping and then making his animal friends angry when he tells their secrets. Rinehart talked to students about the importance of keeping some information to themselves, and when it's proper to tell other people. Afterward, students used construction paper to make their very own armadillos. - Calen McKinney

Fireplace gas logs working fine thanks to shared knowledge
2017-02-06 - Columbia KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com. A thank-you is in order to three who responded to my question about what might be wrong with our gas logs when the pilot kept clicking off. We are warm and the flames are rolling thanks to Tommy Byrd, Mark Bright, and Ronald Cook who responded with the advice to "try using compressed air to blow out all areas in and around the pilot light." I'd heard of using "canned air" on computers but had no clue that the gas logs were a natural spot to collect dust. After one treatment, all is well and I now know that this is needed regularly when the logs are in constant use and at the beginning of the season after they've been off for a while. Thank you all so much! -- LW
