Don Franklin Family of dealerships #15, as it nears 50th year

2017-01-18 - Don Franklin Mitsubishi, 3001 Lexington Road, Nicholasville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com photo(c).
The huge dealership is still in a transitional phase, but already has familiar branding elements of the highly successful group. While South Central Kentuckians may not be surprise that the enterprise now has 15 locations, many may not realize the length of its history, that it is now 48 years old, or that it's been almost eight years since the group's founder, who dreamed with leaders and mayors of Columbia, was taken from the community. Related: Don Franklin, 62, business leader and community visionary, passes away.

A satisfactory standoff with a great Great Pyrenees

2017-01-17 - Dunnville Road, Eunice, Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com photo(c).
There was an understanding, though not a word was spoken by the Great Pyrenees and the photographer. The eyes of the one never lost contact with the other. While the photographer did her job in a non-threatening way, the great dog did the work of posing. Still one would have expected that any movement toward its territory, without its master's consent, might have been construed as a hostile act, with swift retribution. Maybe not. But it wouldn't be worth the risk. - EW. Photo 17 Jan 2017.
