Owner Jason Cox, with assistance from his brother, John Cox, has recently opened A&J Barbeque at 2391 Russell Springs Rd., in Columbia, KY. Jason's cooking is familiar to customers of the Farmer's Market on the Square, and the new venture features a simple menu of pulled pork, pork tenderloin, pork shoulder and country ham sandwiches. They are open 10amCT til 8pmCT Wednesday through Friday.

Gabe, at right, and Ty Coleman will share favorite Korean customs at the next Farmers Market on the Square, Saturday, June 10, 2017. Gabe, age 8, and Ty, age 7, are the sons of Mark and Maggie Coleman and grandsons of Bill and Beth Coleman, all of Columbia. Ty was born in Seoul Korea and loves to share the Korean customs with other kids. They hope to have a good crowd to talk with at the cafe next Saturday during lunch at the Square Meals Cafe from 10:30am-1pmCT on the corner of Campbellsville and Merchant Streets.

Three markers for victims of the Gradyville Flood of June 7, 1907. They are haunting reminders, so many with the same dates, in the cemeteries. The monument to left is in the Moss Cemetery at Pickett's Chapel. Monument in the center and on the right is in the Union Cemetery.

Adair County Historian Mike Watson, whom we hope will soon announce a hardcover history of the Gradyville Flood of 7 Jun 2017, reminds us that the tragic event occurred 110 years ago today. It's the tenth anniversary on the Gradyville Flood 100th anniversary of the flood. Many have saved print copies of the edition, printed on a mimeograph machine that year.
