No, it's not fireworks, but the seed head of a nodding thistle does bear a resemblance to pyrotechnics. The seed head is potent. Each one can release over a thousand seeds. Small wonder the invasive plant is so hard to control. - EW

Where am I? Many of ColumbiaMagazine.com readers might recognize this colorful bridge and know where its location is. Another hint: it is located an easy commute from my home in Cane Valley. I like how the sun created interesting shadow lines from the handrails. The chipping away paint reveals some past colors the bridge once boasted. - ROBERT ELLIS
