A new-fangled hollyhock 2017-07-03 - Fairground Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com. This star spangled hollyhock plant, sprawling over lower flowers, came from a bulb according to gardner Fay McKinley, rather than seed pods which is how old fashioned hollyhocks get born. She found this one which produces pretty, pink carnation-like blooms, in the Walmart garden center a while back and the blossoms are so heavy they pull the stalks over. - LW. Scenic Cumberland Co, KY: Fish hiding out in Crocus Creek 2017-07-03 - Lawson Bottom Road, Cumberland County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com photo(c). From the Bridge over Crocus Creek on Lawson Bottom Road, some big fish could be seen hiding out among fallen timbers upstream. Even though it looked like they could be caught easily fishing from the bridge - is that legal? - their hideout was secure, for the moment, from a fishing party 50 yards or so upstream in the Crocus Creek tributary. Is there enough detail for a knowledgeable fisher to identify? The waters appeared a bit murky.
