Adair County Historian Mike Watson has acquired two relics of antiquity, pews once used in the Tabor community church. He hasn't revealed what he plans to do with them but said is not planning to start a church. Though he was pleased with progress Fiscal Court made to restore the only major exterior repair needed, he wouldn't comment on Fiscal Court inaction, Tuesday, 11 Jul 2017, when the court totally ignored a major need, filling the seemingly eternally vacant Constitutional Office of Cemetery Commissioner, an office Mike Watson has long aspired to hold, and apparently has full support of a vast majority of Adair County History buffs and genealogist. Having an Adair County Cemetery Commissioner would propel the County to No. 1 among sister counties in the field - ahead of neighbors Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor - none of which have a Cemetery Commissioner. Campbellsville Elementary School third-graders recently learned to work together as a team. Classes competed against each other to see which group could complete a puzzle first. The students took turns hopping like rabbits to the puzzle to add another piece. And the class that finished the puzzle first was named the winner. The exercise was to help the students learn the importance of teamwork. Epicurean Kentuckian: Picture-perfect hamburger 2017-07-11 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. Usually, when we see a burger like this, we assume that a team of food stylists spent the afternoon choosing from hundreds of pickles and tomatoes and buns to get the perfect balance of color and texture for a one-off photo shoot, to be used on posters to give the idea of what burgers could be. However, this burger was handed to us casually for carryout, with the simple expectation that we'd have it for lunch, and no knowledge that we'd take a picture first. Liza Turner, Air Evac, from Cumberland County, was the guest speaker at the Columbia/Adair County Chamber of Commerce meeting today; company colleagues Donald Hare and Dan Durham accompanied her. Turner said that Air Evac is celebrating 13 years in business. "We take choppers out of big cities and into rural Kentucky - cutting half the time getting patients to a hospital. Air Evac started in Albany and has grown rapidly from there. There are now seven local employees. The company has thrived by partnering with healthcare providers. She told Chamber members that 25% of local residents have Air Evac membership currently, and said that there are a variety of ways to get group discounts, employees of chamber members receive a $10 discount off the regular $65 annual dues.
