Campbellsville Elementary School second-grader Marissa Sumners keeps the rhythm with her drum sticks. CES second-graders recently performed a percussion showcase for their classmates, friends and family members. The students spent several weeks in their music class learning about percussion and practicing performing with various percussion instruments. During the performance, CES music teacher Cyndi Chadwick led students in a showcase of classroom and group performances. Magistrate Sammy Baker's Third District will get the two largest Flex money road projects this year, both over $50,000 each, totaling over $101,500. Flex money is spent by a data-driven formula, and this year, two of the costliest, according to state evaluations, were in Baker's District. Each magisterial district will be allocated $40,000 out of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's $280,000 County Road Allotment. Over the years, the formula used for allocating County Road Allotment has shifted from a more complex to a simple one - all districts road needs in this fund are considered equal, regardless of miles of roads, population, traffic numbers, or long range strategic planning. (Where county road projects and utilities projects are built has, in fact, a quasi-planning and zoning effect, but that seems not to be a front burner priority currently).
