Won't say these are the best I've ever eaten, but I haven't had any to top these tonight at Patty's Liberty Road GS & D. The best thing was they were served to order: No more than half beans, more than half broth. And requested aftermarket option to microwave until the bowl could just be touched with a naked hand. Asked for onion slice cut in half. Asked for a hoecake. Asked for ketchup & Texas Pete to mix tableside. It came to order, and after fixing it up with half a shaker of black pepper, it was a meal to pray for for a first day in heaven. I've got my doubts about the hoecake being baked on a hoe over an open fire (as they were invented years ago), but a short cut can be indulged when they taste as good as these. Served with endless glasses of sweet CAUD tap water over ice and topped off with a new rage at Vester, White Chocolate Kit Kats. The meal couldn't have been better. (Linda paid).
