Sometimes camera settings lend confusing pictures 2017-07-31 - Toward Russell County, from Coffey Hole Russell Creek, Clifty Creek area - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c). Sunday afternoon, we chanced to see one of the most pleasing pictures ever. Two horses and their riders and their six dogs. Ten or so snaps were taken, but they seemed to have piled up. The fabulous shade and shadows the right, on White Oak Church Road, can be seen here, as usual.. The extra horse feet are evidence of the second horse and rider. But what looks like double lanes on the turnpike, with access from White OaK Church Road, is an illusion. It's due to the settings on the camera. It;s a pretty grassy pasture. Goldenrod, Kentucky's State Flower, is near peak in some places, headed to it's prettiest, but ironweed is only hinting at taking over. When it does, it will be time to drop everything and take daytrips several times a day. Kentucky doesn't get any prettier than with the mix of gold with the purple of ironweed. Big: The lunker that didn't get away from Stephen Compton 2017-07-31 - Lake Cumberland, KY - Photo by Justin Reeder. The one that didn't get away. Everyone loves a good fish story and Stephen Compton is undoubtedly very good at telling a tall tale about a small fish. However on Saturday morning at Lake Cumberland, Stephen landed a lunker. He states that this is by far the largest small mouth he has ever caught. We didn't have the heart to tell him that it wasn't a small mouth, but a big old drum.
