Sweet peas, probably from plantings decades ago, are prolific in yards in the delightful, stopped-in-time Old Breeding Community along the Breeding Loop. Some may know about the plant's Mediterranean Heritage, it's importance in the work of Gregor Mendel, (See: Wikipedia: Sweet Pea) and get nostalgic for the good old days of the 1940's and 50's, when they were a mainstay in gardens everywhere. Everyone will delight in the happy faces they present today and the wonderful scent of the heirloom blossoms.
