Epicurean Kentuckian: Jalapeno & Ghost Pepper from FM2

FM2 vendor and President of the Adair County Garden Club, and owner of Big Black Dog Farm, had Ghost Peppers, sample left, and Jalapenos (sample right) at the Saturday, August 12, 2017 Farmers Market on the Square. According to the Wikipedia article on ghost peppers (wiki/Bhut_jolokia) some ghost peppers are 400 times hotter than Tabasco and are rated at one million Scoville units. Compared to it, the green pepper on the right, a jalapeno (Wikipedia/Jalapeno) is a bit like candy, at only 1,000-2,000 Scoville Units. The Jalapenos add a delightful flavor to almost any dish even some desserts. We wonder if anyone has tried the Adair County grown ghost pepper and what their recommendation and reviews are. - EW

Scenic Adair County: Deer II, bounding away

After a long encounter for photos, the young deer bounded off into the cedars, a reminder that even this was more than many of us saw of the beautiful animals when they were first re-introduced to the area. Can never forget the thrill of catching a glimpse of just the erect whitetail the first time I saw one, off Little Cake Hill, several decades ago, when deer here were so skittish; now the herds behave like pets. In from Little Cake to meet his bride-to-be; waiting for eclipse

Gerald Holt, was the happiest man in Adair County just a little while later, when his bride-to-be, Joan Dulworth, showed up to get a marriage license at Clerk Lisa Greer's office in the Adair Annex. He had just arrived in Columbia from his home in Little Cake when this photo was taken. Details and a formal announcement will come later, though the ceremony date and percent is out of the bag: Monday, August 21, 2017, at 98.7%. Also, the location is in Adair County, "*The Wedding Capital of Kentucky." Though he often bikes into town, Saturday, August 12 when this photo was taken, he had just taken the famed recumbent bike out of the car. - EW - (*The Wedding Capital of Kentucky. . Would like to attribute source; think it was heard first at a Columbia/Adair County Economic Development Authority meeting. Wherever, whoever - It's true, Adair County is Romance Central for the Commonwealth. - EW)
