Looking left, while waiting for the green light to travel on into Mercer County, and enjoy the historic Boone Tunnel carved through the Kentucky Palisades. Patrick Reagin, of Columbia, left, and William Rigney, of Monticello, worked together to fix four welding machines, like the one shown between them, for the Somerset Community College welding program. Reagin is currently enrolled in the Industrial Maintenance Technology program at SCC and Rigney completed same program in May, 2017. Both are taking welding classes to expand their skills. Wheeler Hill Pass gave me a splendid view of this Great Wooded South rainbow standing tall over the Flatwoods and points beyond, Wednesday afternoon. My mind waxed to the glory days of the East Gradyville Oil Boom and the flurry of the oil business which made some wealthy and some, well, not so wealthy. I suddenly thought about that in the context of there being a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
