To the voters of Adair County, KY I was born in Columbia, Kentucky, and was raised in Edinburgh, Indiana, and graduated from Edinburgh Community High School. In the early 90's my wife and I moved to Arizona. In February 1993 I joined the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, and graduated from the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy. I served as Class Vice-President. In July 1994 I was accepted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (Highway Patrol) and graduated from the AZ Department of Public Safety Academy. I was a road Trooper for nine years before promoting to Sergeant in 2003. I worked various assignments across Arizona including patrol, supervising a road squad on the Mexico border, administration, training instructor at the academy and managed all aspects of the Arizona Highway Patrol Training Academy. In August of 2013 I retired and moved to Kentucky. I accepted a job at Lake Cumberland Sate Resort Park as a Park Ranger; In July 2015 I was promoted to Captain and assigned the Central Region Commander position. In March of 2016, Governor Matt Bevin's administration promoted me to Colonel. I am Director of the State Park Rangers overseeing Law Enforcement operations at all Kentucky State Parks. I have graduated from two police academies and hold a POPS certification from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training. I have an associate's degree in Law Enforcement Technology from Rio Salado College; I graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command (Evanston, Illinois). I earned the Trilogy award from the FBI-LEEDA by completing the supervisory, command and executive level training courses. I attended the United States Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston Alabama and received certificates in Mobile Field Force and in Managing Civil Disturbances. I have been married to my wife Teresa for 41 years; we have one daughter, one granddaughter and one grandson. My son-law and daughter, Levi and Tiffany Erler are expecting twin boys in late April. We all live in the Millerfield Community of Adair County. I believe with my training, education and experience, I am the right choice to lead the Adair County Sheriff's Office. Crossing Merchant: Instructions are posted 2018-02-26 - New pedestrian crossing Merchant Street at Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Pedestrians who have been urging safer crossings now have them at the intersection of Campbellsville Street with Merchant Street and it's out-of-frame continuation, N Reed Street, Columbia. Above, two essentials are 1) a clearly defined crosswalk, and 2) to the the left, and stop bar for cars. Pedestrians should feel an obligation to become familiar with the rules, posted on the rectangular sign above, remember that with rights also comes a social imperative to be courteous, to respect motorists, too. The sign tells when to cross and when not to, informs those planning a crossing where to see "remaining time," and indicates the button to push to activate the crossing lights.
