An encouraging word to walkers at Blair Park
2018-04-15 - Jim Blair Park 901 Hudson Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Getting in steps at Jim Blair Park. Walkers are reminded that speed is not the only consideration, that just by keeping moving they are beating everyone who is sedentary. Two laps around the park is one mile, the sign says, a handy metric. There's no sign on the Square downtown, but almost everyone knows, by now, that five laps around the Public Square sidewalks = 1 mile, and that ten laps on the circle on a bicycle = 1 mile; no fancy equipment needed to know how much of a daily exercise routine one has done. - EW

Debra Waddell of Columbia, KY, a member of the Adair County Education Association, was among the thousand who converged on the Kentucky State Capitol on Friday, rallying for the Kentucky State General Assembly to override the Governor's vetos of bills which, as they saw it, unfavorable to public education, to active teachers, and to retired public employees. They were successful. - EW. Paired photo: Debra Waddell: My Friday - In Frankfort: Favorite Sign
