Tree trunks used as corner posts for fence lines are fairly common, but this tree, on the campus of Hood Lodge, has some most elaborate results of tree girdling by fence wire around, a definite eye catcher despite the fact that the girdling will one day be the end of the tree. Mushrooms of KY: Turkey Tails (?) 2018-04-19 - Bluff over Russell Creek, near Zion/Beautiful Joppa/Ozark area of Adair Couny, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Last year, April Shepperd, identified a similar fungus photo as "Turkey Tails." This appears to be the same thing, but, since we are not mushroom experts, we'll advise against ingesting any mushroom, for medicinal or other purposes, without getting advice of an expert. Which brings up a point? Are there any classes - private or UK Extension or Adair County Garden Club classes in the area providing information on mushroom identification and how to know which are poisonous and which are not? If anyone knows, let us know.
