Birds of KY: The Magnificent Turkey Vulture 2018-04-21 - Along a scenic byway; Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Before we were discovered, this magnificent Turkey Vulture and a friend were sitting on the rooftop of a no longer used as a home, tarpaper and vine covered tenant cottage, surveying the surroundings for a call to lunch. Somehow, they seemed to dwarf the tiny house on which they were perched, and left when they realized we were about. It was a welcome sight to see their red collars - their counter parts, the black vultures are taking over their territory, and the huge black vultures' impatience to wait for life to cease in their next meal makes them a huge danger to calves, small pets, even humans. - EW Comments? | Click here to share, print, or bookmark this photo.

One person on our staff has already seen a dog's head with a comb-over sticking out of an ambisextrous human form with a Nehru collar. It was an interesting natural - except for infliction of deformity by a road department whacking machine, from which, in this case, it recovered nicely - work of roadside art.
