Couldn't help but notice the huge iris blossom and its setting at the Long John Silver's Seafood Restaurant in Russell Springs, KY and requested a screen saver photo by Linda. I think she did pretty well. Someday I hope to find out the variety and the name of grass in the background, it's unusual. For other situations, does anyone else ever wonder why we in this area never or seldom use broom sedge in landscaping. Some of the most beautiful scenes are framed by volunteer broom sedge, the plant - reviled at the time - which kept the country side from blowing away just a few decades ago. Seems a shame. Students in Ms. Laura Cash's ninth grade science class at Green County High School took the Governor's challenge and won second place in the state. The team included Piper Lockard, Lindi Compton, Autumn Sidebottom, and Jake Stone. Over a two-month time period they worked together and created multiple public service announcements to present to the judges that were targeted to help prevent opioid use and end opioid addiction. Tupman's Pond, nearby, created by the Cloudburst that caused the Gradyville Flood in 1907, is nearly gone now. Maybe it's the lime dustin the air. For what ever reason pastures along Highway 55 South Road, and the trees are every shade of green.
