Linda spotted this fossil in a gravel bar on Crocus Creek, right before it joins Burns Creek. At first the coin-like feature appeared to be just that - a coin. On closer look, probably not. But it reminded me of a feature in the limestone masonry on our front porch growing up at 705 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY. Our father, E.P. Waggener, had a penny, the same year as the porch was built, imbedded in a similar fashion. Just wondering if anyone out there can comment on the fossil and the stone coin feature, and whether any special laws protects them. Fish swimming upstream in Crocus Creek, Inroad, Adair Co., KY 2018-04-29 - Inroad-on-704 at Melson Ridge Road, Adair Co., KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The clear waters of Crocus Creek made it easy to photograph as many as 25-30 of this large species of fish below the Melson Ridge Bridge. Our in-house fish identifiers were thinking chubs or suckers, and wondered if the white noses might be an unhealthy condition. Information about the phenomenon from experienced Crocus Creek experts appreciated.
