Post at entry to old AC Fairgrounds -- purpose?
2018-06-02 - Fairground Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Things are changing fast at the old Adair County Fairgrounds site since the property was sold to Lindsey Wilson College. One thing remaining is the large concrete post in the right side of this picture, located to the right of the entry drive as you turn in. It looks to have been there for many years and it would be good to know why it was placed there. Can anyone share knowledge of its purpose? -- LW

At the Columbia/Adair County Chamber of Commerce banquet
2018-06-02 - Roberta D. Cranmer Dining Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. These two almost need no names written down as both are such well known figures in Adair County. Hilda Legg, left, asked for a keepsake photo as she honored her longtime friend Sue Stivers, right, for the tireless work she has given in the Chamber of Commerce, and continuing in the Tourism Department. Legg was guest speaker at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet. Stivers recently retired from the position of Chamber Executive Director and had a day named in her honor with a special event organized by incoming Director Ellen Zornes.
