We watch for these roses along a free-stone masonry retaining wall on Jamestown Hill every year. It's a reminder of our first home together in Columbia, and the arrival of our first chilld and now, a reminder of some of the best times in Columbia. The late John D. and Olive Lowe and neighbors Jimmy & Jimmy Maupin, allowed the roses and the wall to do their thing each spring with just a bit of barely noticed control, and the whole aspect paid homage to Jamestown Hill's wonderful past.
