One needs to be on continuous alert along Holmes Bend Road, especially beyond Jericho Cove, Charity Baptist Church toward the Holmes Bend Resort & Marina. This young deer bounded across the road, then, before disappearing into the woods, took a look back to make eye contact, then bounded away. - EW

(Readers are reminded not to consume mushrooms without knowing all factors in identifications which would require much more than a single photo). "I have seen one other Chicken of the Woods, above, several years ago, but wrongly assumed since it was so brightly colored it may poisonous... It was not until recently when my son brought in a sister mushroom- "Hen of the Woods" - which looks more like a fluffy hen, that I realized what a culinary morsel I passed by back then. - Cynthia A. TheatreFest! - rehearsing for Smoke on the Mountain

Rehearsal for the upcoming TheatreFest! production of "Smoke on the Mountain" with Sharon Archey, Sydney Shearer, Thomas Alvey, Kelvin Bailey, Tyler Harting, Rachael Miller, and Hannah Peck. "Smoke on the Mountain" will be performed six times, at 7pmCT, June 27, 28, 29 and July 11, 12, 13, 2018, with a final performance at 2pmCT, July 15, 2018 at Lindsey Wilson's V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, KY, and one time, at 6pmCT/7pmET, June 30, 2018, at Shakespeare in the Barn at Homeplace on Green River, 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY. The play is based on a book by Connie Ray, conceived by Alan Bailey, with musical arrangements by Mike Craver and Mark Hardwick. All performances are directed by Robert Brock.
