Nick Ratliff, 21, of Elizabethtown, Ky., a senior at Campbellsville University majoring in business administration with an emphasis in marketing, pulled lightning out of his pocket twice in today's tournament action, to punch his ticket to the 2019 Bassmaster Classic. He proudly holds his award and his Classic Bracket Champion $7,500 award.

At his birth August 15, 2018, Major Liam Stailey weighed seven pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 inches tall. He's the little son of Jessie and Kaddie Stailey of Burkesville and has two big brothers, Kyle and Gage. He's the grandson of Jason and Jane Stailey of Burkesville and Amanda Stailey of Glasgow. Major is the great-grandson of Bennie and Gaye Stailey and the nephew of Madeline, Summer and William. Congratulations everyone! - LW

Flowers of KY - Nicotiana, a native blossom

Without the name, above, and the context from a photo of the rest of the plant, this beautiful native flower is not readily recognizable except by those who grew up having to work in burley tobacco fields and had the chore of "topping" - breaking off the flowers to produce fuller leaves - when practically every farm in South Central Kentucky had a small acreage allotment as the major cash income on the farm. Those hard labor chores and others vexing jobs in the tobacco patch spurred many a youth to pursue careers in engineering, military surface, medicine, law as well as factory jobs in Cold Country, a way up North - anything, they'd swear, which would not involve tobacco! According to the entry in Wikipedia Tobacco, the plant is native to both North and South America.
