New floor is being laid at the Jim Blair Community Center, located at 901 Hudson St., Columbia, by Chase Brown and his loyal companion/supervisor, Ace. The project is a joint financial effort between the city and the county, with each paying half. The lone bid was awarded last spring/summer to Chase Brown Construction. The Columbia/Adair County Parks and Recreation Board responsible to oversee and make recommendations for the running of the park is made up of 9 members, 4 appointed and approved by the City of Columbia, 4 appointed and approved by the Adair Fiscal Court, and 1 recommended by the Board itself and jointly approved by the City and County. AC Middle School presents Storymaker video creation 2019-01-23 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The Adair County Middle School video presentation was introduced by teacher Rebekah Sode at the January meeting of the Adair County School Board. Students who shared their experiences with the new Storymaker program included Conner Lynn, Aaron Smith, Luke Rich, Jazzy Kemp and Millie Brown. Jazzy said, "we used teamwork, assigned roles and collaborated using google docs." Milly said, "we edit and put sound on, export audios, have voice actors..." Conner demonstrated how difficult that job can be. Students from the high school also presented their work with this program. The landscape is changing on Burkesville Street in Columbia, KY as the yard that had been so grown up it had received complaints over the years is being cleared by the new owners. The little building at right was once a law office when the property was owned by the Hurt/Foust family.
