Adair County Clerk Lisa Greer presented the Fiscal Court with a check for $200,000 Tuesday night, February 12, 2019 during the regular monthly meeting. The funds are from from her office’s 2018 final settlement and are based on fees above what was originally budgeted. Greer has successfully been able to return money to the court every year since she took office in 2015 - which earned her praise from the magistrates in attendance. Hilda Legg, Kentucky State Director of the USDA Rural Development, spoke at the February 14, 2019 lunch meeting of the Campbellsville-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce held at the Taylor County Extension office. She announced that Rural Development has approved more than $14 million in recent years in various grant and loan funds in Taylor County for water system improvements, business assistance, and housing funding. She summarized several of the grant and loan programs that are available from Rural Development for a variety of community improvement type projects as well as individual housing loans. Legg spoke of the importance of access to high speed broadband for rural areas to compete in today's economy.
