Donna Jones, director, helped a customer at the Saturday Farmers Market on the Square and then said, "We've had two great Saturdays, drawing many new faces to Columbia, and the ACES students had a blast and will return in September - but we have a question." As the first representative of the City of Columbia at the Market Saturday, April 13, 2019, I received the question - "why are the Farmers Market vendors locked out of City Hall restrooms?" It's the first I've heard of this. Now I'm asking the question of the rest of our City leaders - don't all other groups and organizations have use of the restrooms when working with the city? A large tree fell on a cabin at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park in Russell County on April 14, 2019, causing significant damage. According to authorities, six guests were staying in the cabin, and all six made it out. Emergency medical crews, Kentucky State Police and park staff responded quickly to the incident. CMS students to attend Rogers Explorers program 2019-04-16 - Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Calen McKinney. Campbellsville Middle School eighth-graders Leigh Hicks and Mikaela Scharbrough have been chosen to attend the Rogers Explorers program this summer. The Rogers Explorers program is an intensive three-day, two-night program focused on cultivating skills in leadership, technology, math, science and community service. It is developed, coordinated and supervised by The Center for Rural Development. More than 200 students from The Center's 45-county service area have been chosen to attend programs hosted at Asbury, Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State universities, Union College, University of the Cumberlands, Lindsey Wilson College and University of Pikeville. Wikipedia has this to say about the common starling (Sturnus vulgaris): "After two failed attempts, about 60 common starlings were released in 1890 into New York's Central Park by Eugene Schieffelin. He was president of the American Acclimatization Society, which reportedly tried to introduce every bird species mentioned in the works of William Shakespeare into North America. ...The original 60 birds have since swelled in number to 150 million, occupying an area extending from southern Canada and Alaska to Central America."
