Born Learning Academy graduates at ACPC

Born Learning Academy Graduation was held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Adair County Primary Center. Congratulations to the following for completing a series of family workshops to help prepare their children or grandchildren for school: Misty VanArsdale, Vickie McClister, Cheyenne Logan, Kathy Staten, Natalie Dobbs, Veronica Burris, Lizzie Miller, Edna Miller, and Anna Hershberger. Not pictured were Lizzie Gingerich, Misty Trent, and Toni Turner.

KSP Dispatchers Randall Adams, Megan Smith recognized

The Kentucky State Police is recognizing two dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, because of life saving actions on the job. "Their quick response made a real difference that mattered," said KSP Commissioner Rick Sanders, "That's why the Kentucky State Police consider our telecommunicators some of our most treasured assets. It's a noble calling that can provide a very fulfilling, admirable and honorable career."

Alisha Corbin shared this photo of barn damage on Bull Run representing damage they received in high March winds. Yesterday, April 14, 2019, brought similar winds and closed one road due to a tree down.

Future leaders Gabe and Ty at Kentucky Capitol

Gabe Coleman, 10, at left, and Ty Coleman, 9, participated in a one day workshop last week about the functioning of government. The event was sponsored by TeenPact, a national organization that works with state governments to help homeschooling families experience civic education in a hands-on environment. The brothers are sons of Maggie and Mark Coleman of Columbia.

Redbud phase two almost as good

Redbud trees have been their most beautiful over the past week as writer Billy Joe Fudge noted in his Great Wooded South Redbud Heaven photos. I couldn't resist photographing this phase where the pink blossoms carpeted the ground underneath as new leaves begin to push them off. The location is at the back of the Columbia United Methodist Church, looking toward the Food Pantry entrance.

Vicky writes, "A surprise birthday celebration was planned by Diana Eastham for her husband Greg for his 60th at LWC's Cranmer Dining Hall Sunday afternoon. Looks like he was really surprised to see us all. The girls of the Pampered Angus Ranch, his neighbors, sent him a big mooo Happy Birthday!"
