Commencement speaker Ashli Watts is a CU graduate

Ashli Watts, senior vice president of public affairs for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and a 2004 Campbellsville University graduate, will be the speaker this year for CU's two ceremonies Saturday, May 4, 2019.
A graduate of Campbellsville University, Watts obtained her Bachelor's degree in Political Science and History. She also holds a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Louisville.
She spearheads all lobbying and advocacy efforts for the state's largest business association. Prior to joining the chamber in November 2102, Watts worked for the Kentucky Bar Association and the Legislative Research Commission.

Still in the midst of the best ever Redbud season

This is the best Redbud season I've ever seen. I think 2019 will be remembered as one for the record books. Even though the season is heading past, I couldn't resist taking this picture at the back of the Chamber of Commerce building in the brilliant afternoon sun. Aromas of pool room hamburgers and Mexican food wafted in the air as I walked closer to the Square. I looked at all the little pinwheels around the Courthouse lawn signifying abused children and thought again about how our actions, our individual beliefs, our mottos need to include, "First, do no harm." - LW

Harris is Chief Executive Officer of National AHEC

Dwain Harris, Adair County native, was named CEO of the National AHEC (Area Health Education Center) Organization in January 2019. The son of Columbians Sharon and Wid Harris, he lives in Somerset with his wife Julie, son Matthew, 12, and 7-year-old twins, Piper and John Parker.
He began his AHEC career in 2004 when he was hired as center director of the Southern Kentucky AHEC, where he worked closely with his team in all areas of the AHEC mission, including student rotations, preceptor development, health career promotion, pipeline development, continuing education and community health initiatives.
