Bobby Morrison, newest Board member on the local Economic Development Authority, asked members at the May meeting to consider what's different about Adair County in relation to others around us. He noted that especially Taylor and Russell Counties seem to have been able to recruit and keep jobs where Adair seems to stay behind. He's volunteering to help. The boy who spent his barefoot summers discovering the world of Harvey's Ridge in southern Adair County says he's done "pretty good." He grew up to travel the world, managing setup, recruitment and training of employees for 40 OshKosh plants in various countries. He wonders if building stronger relationships with leaders in state business and industry areas will help, and volunteers time if needed. EDA Chair Mark Dykes added he believes Adair will be more ready for recruitment with the completion of the Industrial Park road planned for this summer.
