Farmers Market encourages seniors to use their bucks

2019-08-14 - Corner Merchant and Campbellsville Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Vicky Pike.
This scene from FM2 is a reminder. While shopping at the Farmers Market today, Donna Jones, market coordinator, asked that we remind seniors who have been given “senior bucks” to redeem at the market need to be using them while produce is plentiful. Senior Bucks are given out through the LCADD for seniors to be able to buy healthy produce. All that have been given out have been released and now need to be redeemed while there is a good selection of produce.

One issue still standing is the crown molding that has been hanging from the Campbellsville Street side of the courthouse. No company wants to touch repairs in fear of creating more damage. The molding is part of the "wings" which were added at some point in the 1970's.

2019-08-14 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Kerry Humphress.
Kerry Humphress captured this fascinating closeup of a cicada transformation. He found they were called "Dog Days Cicadas."

According to cicadamania.com, after anywhere from 2 to 17 years, "cicadas emerge from the ground as nymphs. Nymphs climb the nearest available tree, and begin to shed their nymph exoskeleton.... Once their new wings and body are ready, they can begin their brief adult life."
