Adair County Historic Courthouse: Open Door Policy

This photo of the historic Adair County Courthouse now hangs in Mayor Pam Hoots' office. The photo shows the days when the doors were open wide in summer, back before the wings were added.

It is hoped by many that Rep Bam Carney is in contact with the Kentucky National Guard who may be able to remove the wings as part of their training projects. Once the additions "wings" from the 1970s are removed the Courthouse could be back to its original shape as shown here.

This view is from the Greensburg Street entry to the Public Square, as was the photo yesterday at the same spot (see paired photo link below). Without the wings, more businesses are shown. First National Bank to the immediate right of the courthouse and Nell's Variety Store to its right.

BFD team announces new search dog, Sparky G

Breeding Fire Department has received a search dog donation from a local kennel. Pictured from left are Chief Terry Harvey, Wes Irvin owner of Grandview Labradors who donated the dog, Firefighter Ashley Harvey holding Sparky G, Captain Brandon Harvey and Captain Jonathon Beams. Once trained, the new search dog will help BFD with searches in Adair County which, at 406 square miles, is one of the largest counties in South Central Kentucky.

LWC Move-in Day: President Luckey addresses Class of 2023

LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. addresses the Class of 2023 at the 2019-2020 Kick-off Ceremony held in the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center Saturday. Luckey, who has been president of the 116-year-old liberal arts college since 1998, told the group that life is about decisions and to decide now not to just attend LWC -- but to finish.
