Acorns just about ready

2019-09-08 - Central Kentucky - Photo by Pen.
The acorn crop is looking healthy this fall. Acorns are a very important part of the diet of many species of birds, squirrels and even larger animals such as pigs, bears, and deer. In the past, they were also used as food for humans, but the work required to make them edible for people has diminished reliance on them in modern times. Wikipedia has more on acorns as food here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acorn.
