Travel: The Getty Center 2019-10-29 - Los Angeles, CA - Photo by Pen. The Getty Center, in Los Angeles, California, is a campus of the Getty Museum and other programs of the Getty Trust. The $1.3 billion Center opened to the public on December 16, 1997 and is well known for its architecture, gardens, and views overlooking Los Angeles. (Getty at Wikipedia) It's been in the national news for unfortunate reasons this week, as a fire that broke out near the center has been destroying homes and forcing evacuations. Osage Orange fruit - Hedgeapples - are hanging heavily on the trees now or they lay on the ground where they drop from the limbs - much like Walnuts do even though these are larger - waiting to be collected or stepped on. Hedgeapples made prized balls for my young children and their father who taught them to "plunk" them into creeks like small stones.
