Dan Thies, Red Cross Disaster Response Team volunteer

In the last Fiscal Court meeting, Adair County Magistrates unanimously approved the request by Dan Thies, above, American Red Cross Disaster Response Team volunteer in Adair County, for the Annex facility to be used as the meeting place in any disaster situation to be coordinated with the Adair County Emergency Management Director. In addition, he recently said the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign has FREE smoke alarms available. Volunteers will install them at no cost. To arrange for a free smoke alarm, installed at no cost by local volunteers, contact him at 859-951-7814.

One of four accidents in Adair Saturday

Just after lunchtime Saturday, January 4, 2020, Columbia Police, Adair County Sheriff's Department and Kentucky State Police Post 15 spanned out in response to four different accidents called in to dispatch, all west of Columbia, in what were believed to be slick spots on roadways. The scene above was on west Hwy 80 in the Gradyville community and the others were on the Cumberland Parkway.

Spillway release millions of gallons of water

On January 4, 2020 the Green River Lake - US Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District facebook page announced that they "will be opening up to 18 tenths on the main gates with an outflow of around 6,800 cfs by days end."
