 2020-09-21 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy Doug Beard. W. Leslie Chapman was the minister of the Columbia Methodist Church from 1955-1958. He presided over the wedding of my parents, Horace (Harry) Beard and Beatrice (Coomer) Beard on October 14, 1955. He then conducted my consecration of infant baptism on May 18, 1958.

A perfect day for gardeners swapping plants
 2020-09-21 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Plant Swap Day was held Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Columbia's Trabue Russell House. Folks in attendance took time to admire the rose garden in front of the house and then to gather at the back of the house for the plant swap. The historic house was open for inside tours as well. The House is located on Jamestown Street across from Elm Drive. For more information call the City of Columbia at 270-384-2501.

A pumpkin artist is at work downtown
 2020-09-20 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. An unknown artist is carving pumpkins and placing them around downtown Columbia. These two are on Greensburg Street at the corner of High Street. The first of October will bring SquareCrows to the Public Square. Registration for placement is underway and may be requested by calling City Hall at 270-384-2501.

Aubrey Johnson, 93, Jamestown, KY
 2020-09-20 - Photo from the family. Aubrey Johnson, 93, served 31 years in various positions in the Russell County School District.
He taught Health & PE and was the basketball coach at Russell County High School, was principal at Jamestown Elementary and was Director of Transportation throughout his career.
