Photographer Joshua Williams is frequently behind the camera, as witnessed in many great photos in CM archives, however, he stars in pictures on a recent visit to the mountains of Tennessee. He shared, "Another great hike - Alum Cave Trail to Mt. LeConte, one of the most popular/crowded trails in Gatlinburg. We decided to start the trail little early to beat the usual crowd. Total miles hiked: 11.1 - Total time: 6hrs and 13 mins - Elevation reached: Around 6,400 feet."

CPD speaks to Columbia UMC Youth Group

K9 Handlers with The Columbia Police Department met and spoke with the Youth Group at Columbia United Methodist Church Wednesday evening. Officers Kevin Atwood, Evan Burton, and Trevor Foster discussed an array of subjects with the group and later allowed them to view various demonstrations using K9s. The Columbia Police Department thanked the staff and congregation of Columbia Methodist for the opportunity for outreach within the community.

Best locally organized sports play-by-play

Matt Payton, broadcast operations coordinator and voice of Tiger Basketball at Campbellsville University, has been named Broadcasting's Best Sports Play-By-Play by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association (KBA), the largest broadcasting organization in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The award recognizes the best locally organized sports play-by-play in the Commonwealth.

Piecemaker's Quilt Guild working for Veterans

Nominations are open for Metcalfe County Veterans in the Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild partnership with the Metcalfe County, American Legion and VFW Posts honors. As a symbol and token of thanks, solace, and remembrance for those who have served in harm’s way, we would like to present handmade quilts to several service members. Last year we presented quilts to seven veterans and plan to do a similar number this year. Nomination information is in the story linked to this photo.
