We awoke to a bit of snow 2021-01-18 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The red Robin and I awoke on this holiday morning to a light dusting of snow. It must have been good hunting weather because there were a dozen of them in the yard. I interrupted the pull of the Robin on a fishing worm that was clinging to its underground home. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2021-01-18 . It's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in America. Dr. King's Mountaintop speech, given April 3, 1968 at the Church of Christ in Memphis, TN, is quoted, "We've got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn't matter with me now, because I've been to the mountaintop... Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And he's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land!" The next day, on April 4, 1968, King was assassinated." I was fortunate enough to get to meet him that day and he has since set up residency on Jack Smith Road. He has adjusted well and seems right at home. He's an avid hunter and bird watcher.
