Shaunda Soverly, at right, is the new Columbia Walmart Manager, replacing Sam Scarborough who transferred to Bowling Green recently. She was welcomed by Columbia-Adair Chamber of Commerce leaders Ellen Zornes and Woody Sharpe. She said her family was on their way to Columbia from Florida at the time everyone met for the groundbreaking of the new KFC store across the street. They will make their home in Adair County. In 1940 a small number of finches were turned loose on Long Island, New York, after failed attempts to sell them as cage birds ('Hollywood finches').
