Jane Todd Crawford statue dedicated Dec 13th

The date the Greensburg Arts Council dedicated the statue of Jane Todd Crawford was the date that had been declared as her day. Former Kentucky Gov. Bert Combs proclaimed December 13th as Jane Todd Crawford Day in the state and urged that all citizens observe that day with fitting and appropriate ceremonies in honor of this great Kentucky woman.
In his proclamation, Governor Combs points to the "special importance in the medical-surgical field of the first successful abdominal operation which was performed upon Mrs. Jane Todd Crawford by Dr. Ephraim McDowell.

Adair artist creates Jane Todd Crawford statue
 2025-12-15 - Green County, KY - Photo by Larry J. Smith, The Big Dawg, FM 99.9. Joel and Suzanne Bennett are pictured at the dedication of the Jane Todd Crawford statue in Greensburg last week. Suzanne plays Jane Todd Crawford and is dressed in clothing fitting the early 1800's era.
The Greensburg Arts Council hired Lindsey Wilson University art director Tim Smith from Columbia to create the statue.
