Free plants from ACHS FFA to Adair Food Pantry
 2026-05-26 - Columbia, KY - Photo from Richard Phelps. Adair County High School FFA green house donated tomato, squash and cucumber plants to the Adair County food pantry. The pantry will, in turn, give the free plants to local residents to plant and grow their own vegetables. FFA teacher Brittany smith coordinated the efforts with pantry volunteer Richard Phelps shown here with ACHS students Alyssa Frausto, Daniel Burris, Ariana Davis, and Smyrna Caceres-Aleman.

Liberty Tree planted on VFW Post 6097 grounds
 2026-05-25 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Mig Feuser, Adair Progress. Members of VFW Post 6097 and of the County celebrated the official planting of the Liberty Tree. VFW Commander Russell Lunsford explained why a Tulip Poplar -- Kentucky's state tree -- was selected for the Liberty Tree. As it takes root on the VFW grounds, organizers hope it will stand for decades as a reminder of the nation's founding principles and the generations who have worked to preserve them.

Served with a load of tater tots, the 2AM Burger features a sunny side up egg, fried green tomato, bacon, cheddar cheese and bacon jam.

Travel: Gold Butte National Monument (2 of 4)
 2026-05-23 - Clark County, Nevada - Photo by Robert Ellis, robertelliswoodworking.com. Robert writes, "The first stop at the end of the only 'paved' section of the park is Whitney Pocket. It is a neat geological area, but sadly lays under the shadow of the Valley of Fire seen in the far off distance.
This area I believe is part of that same formation, but on a much smaller scale, or maybe sampling would be a better term. This Monument is a very large, off-roading type park and perhaps maybe worth the effort; but once you experienced the Valley of Fire, you get picky in choosing your adventures. At this juncture we pulled the plug, and braced for that 20 mile drive back to the Interstate."
