Lauren Jessie donates hair to to Wigs for Kids

Lauren Jessie was able to donate 12 inches of hair to Wigs for Kids on Wednesday January 5, 2022. Lauren is the daughter of Lee and Joni Jessie of Columbia, the granddaughter of the late Junior Jessie and Donna Jessie of Columbia & Earl Wayne and Linda Miller of Jamestown. Lauren is a Kindergarten student at Russell Springs Elementary.

Pollock sworn in as State Representative

Newly elected Representative Sarge Pollock was sworn in on the first day of Kentucky's legislative session in 2022, taking over the seat left vacant by the passing of Bam Carney.

Pollock will serve on the Agriculture, Banking and Insurance, and Tourism and Outdoor Recreation committees during the 2022 Regular Session.

Columbia City Council at first meeting of 2022

The Mayor and City Council paused for a happy first meeting of the new year photo before the Monday, January 4, 2022 Council meeting. From left are: Council members Ronald Rogers, Robert Flowers, Mark Harris, City Clerk Woody Sharpe, Mayor Pam Hoots (with little guest Baylee Murphy), City attorney Derrick Helm, and Council members Linda Waggener and Sharon Payne. (Council member Craig Dean was absent). The meeting was held in the basement of City Hall to assure safe distancing in the face of rising COVID-19 numbers in the Lake Cumberland Health District.
